Educational Projects — 2013 to 2018
Between 2013 and 2018, the association increased its support to the two rural schools of Ankazomagnitse and Bélitsake in Madagascar’s far south. We continued working closely with local non-governmental organisations and expanded the scope of our activities.
During this period, the association also carried out several feasibility studies aimed particularly at improving existing infrastructure:
School supplies and production of pupils’ uniforms.
Support for the Miavotse sewing workshop/school.
Purchase of four classroom blackboards, four desks, two cupboards and four chairs.
Installation of solar panels at both schools and at the sewing school.
Creation of a library for each school.
Purchase of solar cookers for the primary-school canteens.
Purchase of rainwater collection systems for both schools.
French-language and computer courses were launched with the Alliance Française in Ambovombe, around 22 km from the rural schools. Its library was also made available to pupils.
Continuity in educational projects and various forms of assistance
The broad outlines:
Ongoing monitoring and improvement of school facilities.
Installation of rainwater collectors for both schools.
Funding of computer equipment and refurbishment of furniture at the Alliance Française.
French and computer courses at the Alliance Française library in Ambovombe.
In recent years we have seen improving attendance and examination results, which encourages us to continue supporting both schools. To reduce teacher turnover in this remote area, we also provide financial support to the twelve teachers.
We additionally support pupils who pass their end-of-primary examinations and move on to secondary school by contributing to enrolment fees and providing uniforms and school supplies.
During periods of famine or natural disaster, we provide targeted humanitarian assistance, including food such as rice and beans and funding for water supplies for pupils and teachers.
