Our Vision
Development at the centre of our concerns, childhood at the heart of our actions.
Our work focuses on the rural areas of the Érada municipality in Madagascar’s far south. This poor, arid and isolated territory had almost no public infrastructure in the early 2000s. Since its creation, the association has helped develop school infrastructure by providing school and food supplies and by constructing buildings, giving children the learning opportunities they need to grow and, one day, contribute to the development of their own region.

Since 2008, association members have travelled regularly to monitor projects and discuss the needs of the communities of Ankazomagnitse and Bélitsake. Every initiative is based on issues observed and discussed locally. Villagers are directly involved in each project, for example by supplying locally available construction materials such as sand, gravel and stone, helping to build school canteens and latrines, and organising meals for pupils. Their involvement is essential: it is the strongest guarantee that our actions will succeed and remain sustainable.

Each construction project is carried out in cooperation with the relevant regional directorates and ministries. MétisMalagasy built permanent schools in Ankazomagnitse and Bélitsake for the Regional Directorate of National Education, which is responsible for their operation. The healthcare centre in Ankazomagnitse follows the same principle: under a tripartite agreement between the Association, the Ministry of Health and the Regional Health Directorate, the association provides the land and manages construction until the completed centre is handed over to the health authorities for operation. This cooperation is vital to the long-term sustainability of our projects.
One objective in mind: one euro raised, one euro passed on!
The association is funded through grants and donations, sales of Malagasy handicrafts at solidarity markets, and fundraising events. Operating costs are kept to an absolute minimum. Members pay for their own travel when visiting projects in Madagascar; these expenses are not reimbursed by the association. Our aim is to ensure that money raised in France has the greatest possible direct impact on local communities.
